The Ultimate Guide to Timing Newborn Photoshoots : Everything a parent needs to know

Typically, Newborn Photoshoots are done when baby is between 7-14 days old. This is when they are still really sleepy, and flexible, and absolutely love being swaddled and curled up. This time frame also gives mama a chance to start feeling better!

However there are always exceptions to the rule, and I photograph newborns at all ages! Sometimes mama needs a little extra time, and that’s always ok! A good newborn photographer will get you beautiful images of your darling baby, no matter how old baby is. Some specific posing does require very sleepy newborns, so be sure to set your expectation in advance.

Here are some adorable images of a one-month-old newborn that I recently captured, followed by a session with a precious 7-day-old baby! The poses are similar, but you can notice how the 7-day-old baby is a tad more flexible, displaying the classic posing style seen throughout my portfolio.

Both photoshoots were gorgeous.

One baby below is 7 days, one is 1 Month. See if you can tell which one is which! :) You might not even be able to!

Newborn photoshoots can truly be done anytime. Older newborns just might be more awake, and less flexible. But getting you gorgeous images will absolutely still be possible. So if you have an older newborn, and wishing that you had booked a session. REACH out to me! Depending on my schedule that week, I may be able to accommodate you last minute.

I recommend booking your newborn session when mama hits her 2nd Trimester to ensure a spot in my schedule.
